As of May 28, 2026, if you are interested in selling your designs on Spoonflower, you must complete a new Artist Application to be considered. Once your application is reviewed by our team, you will receive an email letting you know if your application has been accepted or denied.
To begin the Artist Application process:
- Hover over the small person icon in the upper right corner
- Click Account Settings from the drop down
-
Click on the Apply To Be An Artist tab to see the instructions and links to the application steps.
There are 6 steps to complete as part of the application. The image below shows how your account will look before completing the application. As you complete each task, a check mark will appear. Steps can be completed in any order but all 6 must be completed before you can submit it. Review additional details about each required step below and jump to the bottom of this article for additional frequently asked questions about the process.
Step 1 - Verify Email
We need to verify that your email is correct to confirm that we have a way to contact you. Click the Send Verification Email button to auto-generate an email to your address on file. When you receive this email, click the Verify Email Address button in the body to finish the process.
Step 2 - Basic Info
In this section, you’ll provide your name, address, and business information. This information is required to verify your identity or contact you. This information should match your tax form information. It will not be shown publicly on your shop or shared with customers but is required as part of your application.
Step 3 - Choose your shop name
In this section, you’ll choose a shop name. Your shop link is created automatically based on the name you choose. This becomes the URL you can share with customers, and you’ll see a preview of the URL here as well.
Step 4 - Upload your tax documents
The United States government requires all businesses that pay people to collect certain information for tax reporting purposes. This includes people based outside the USA. We do not accept tax documents through mail, fax, or email. They must be submitted through the form embedded in your Account Settings on the Spoonflower site. Click the teal Fill out Tax Forms button to begin. This will open a new window that will ask you to confirm your site password. From there, click the Complete seller tax form (W8/W9) button on the right-hand side and answer the questions to match your personal circumstances. You can find out more detailed information and FAQs about this process, here: Income Tax Documentation for Verified Sellers: FAQ
Step 5 - Upload 5 designs
Upload five designs to your account to showcase your artwork. Our team will review the files as part of your application, so be sure to upload original work that repeats seamlessly, is not blurry or pixelated, and represents your best work. JPG or PNG files are required for upload. Be sure to double check that the designs repeat seamlessly using our digital proofing tool and add titles, tags, and descriptions.
Step 6 - Agree to seller terms
The Seller Agreement presents the information you need to know for selling your designs at Spoonflower. Click "Read the Seller Agreement" and review all these details. When done, click the "Accept Seller Agreement" button at the bottom of the page. This will bring you back to the Seller Application page.
Once all 6 steps are complete, you can click the Submit Application button at the bottom of the screen.
