Collections - Overview

Spoonflower’s Collection tool lets you save specific designs in related groups for a variety of uses. Spoonflower Artists often create cohesive collections to organize their shop and promote their designs, while a maker might create a collection to gather and narrow down choices for an upcoming project. Collections are also the starting point for every Fill-A-Yard® project.

Collections may include up to 1000 designs and can consist of your own uploads, other Artists' designs, or a combination of the two. In order to create a collection, you’ll need to register for a free Spoonflower account if you have not done so yet.

Creating a New Collection

While most people create collections and add designs while searching our site, you can also build collections ahead of time through your Collections page.

• Log in to your account
• Hover over the user profile icon in the upper right corner and click Collections
• From the Collections page, hover over the gray box on the left and click the '+' or Create a new collection link (shown below) 

• Fill in the fields in this New Collection pop-up window (shown below)
  • Name - 100 characters maximum
  • Description - 150 characters maximum
  • Note: the lock icon indicates that a collection is private.  If you are not a verified seller, all of your collections will be private. If you are a verified seller, you will see the option to make a collection public once you have at least 5 designs in a collection. • Click Create to save the Collection
• Search the site and begin adding to your collection following the instructions below.

Adding Designs to a New Collection

To add designs to a collection, follow the steps below.  

1. Log in to your Spoonflower account
2. Go to any product page on Spoonflower.com
3. Look for the Collection icon (+) near the design image and click (shown below) 

   

4. The Add to Collection pop-up menu will appear, as shown below. From here:
   • Search for your collection or scroll the menu
   • Add the design to a collection by clicking the gray plus (+) icon
   • Remove the design by clicking the teal check icon 

   

   • If you need to create a new collection:
     • Click Create New
     • Fill in the Name, Description and determine visibility on the Create a New Collection page
     • Click Create
     • Click the gray plus (+) icon next to this new collection
5. Click Done once you’ve added the design to the collection(s) of your choice.  

Editing or Deleting a Collection

To edit the basic information of a collection:
Click on the pen icon that appears when hovering over a collection block. 

Make any necessary changes and then click Update. Remember, collection names are limited to 100 characters and descriptions are limited to 150 characters. 

Note: the option to make a collection public will only show if you are a verified seller.  

To change the top 3 design thumbnails featured in your collection cover:

1. Go into the Collection page and hover over the design you want to feature.
2. Select 1, 2, or 3 to update the position of the design, as shown in the image below. The page will update after a couple of seconds. 

To delete a collection:
Click the trash can icon in the upper right of the Collection page (shown below). 



Note: Deleted Collections cannot be recovered. They can only be rebuilt manually. 
 

Accessing Personal Collections

To navigate to your saved Collections, hover over the profile menu in the top right corner of the site and choose Collections. Tabs will be displayed and organized by collection type: 

• Designed: This displays collections with only your original designs
• Collected: This displays collections you’ve created that can include both your original designs or designs created by others
• Featured In: If you’ve publicly uploaded your own designs, this displays the collections created by others that include your work

Click on any Collection in these three tabs to view its designs.
